Nutrition facts
CKE publishes nutrition for the Carl's Jr. menu separately from Hardee's. Figures below are from the current Carl's Jr. nutrition disclosure.
| Serving | Calories | Fat (g) | Sat fat (g) | Sodium (mg) | Carbs (g) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| CrissCut Fries (small) | 350 | 19 | 3 | 560 | 41 |
| Natural-Cut Fries (small) | 280 | 13 | 2 | 440 | 38 |
| Natural-Cut Fries (medium) | 430 | 19 | 3 | 680 | 58 |
The CrissCut format carries slightly more surface area (and thus slightly more oil absorption) than the standard Natural-Cut per equivalent weight. The seasoning on CrissCut adds about 60-80 mg sodium per serving vs. the plain Natural-Cut.
Ingredients, line by line
The ingredient lists are similar across both fry styles, differing primarily in the seasoning applied to CrissCut:
Oil & fryer setup
Oil: Vegetable oil blend — soybean, canola, and/or corn oil depending on supplier. The CKE Restaurants allergen disclosure confirms vegetable oil only; no beef tallow or animal fat in the fry preparation.
Fryer: Shared. The fry fryer at Carl's Jr. is used for Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders, Chicken Stars, and other wheat-breaded items. CrissCut and Natural-Cut Fries share the same oil. For celiacs, the cross-contact with wheat-breaded chicken is disqualifying.
Carl's Jr. and Hardee's share a parent (CKE Restaurants) but maintain distinct menu identities and fry profiles. The CrissCut variety is specifically a Carl's Jr. menu item — Hardee's offers only Natural-Cut Fries. Both chains run vegetable-oil fryers; neither has moved toward beef tallow despite the recent industry trend. CKE's position has been that reformulation requires franchise-level alignment that neither chain has initiated.
